Whatever you need to know, in this section you’ll find useful information about Radiomarathon Organization.
The term "special needs" covers the intellectual, mental, or physical disabilities of children up to the age of 18. In cases of individuals with intellectual disabilities, the age restriction does not apply. Those eligible for assistance are determined by the provisions of the foundation's regulations, with the limitations imposed by the foundation's resources. To evaluate applications, it is necessary to submit an application along with documentation that satisfies the criteria for assistance. The criteria considered are: (a) The problem (a medical certificate is required) (b) The financial situation (a tax certificate or a certificate from Social Insurance is required) (c) The extent of coverage by other organizations and care plans, including assistance provided by state services.
The Radiomarathon Foundation and the policy followed by its Management Committee do not replace the state's role in social policy issues. Therefore, assistance is provided where there is no established state provision and in cases where urgent incidents arise, but the state services' decision is delayed. The foundation also supports non-profit voluntary institutions that offer services to children with special needs. It is noted that institutions and services operating under the supervision of state, semi-governmental, and community services are not assisted by Radiomarathon. It is also noted that disabled individuals are entitled to a state monthly allowance.
Radiomarathon exists to change the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across Cyprus.
Our vision is that every child in Cyprus has a safe, happy and secure childhood and the chance to reach their potential.

Since our first major Appeal in 1990 Radiomarathon has raised over 40 million Euros to help make a difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people around Cyprus.
We raise money by organising an annual fundraising campaign with Organizers CNP Cyprialife, CNP Asfalistiki and RIK.
Every year, people from every corner of Cyprus come together to support Radiomarathon Children in Need and help change young lives – from schools and corporate partners to individual fundraisers, and celebrity friends.
Once we know how much money has been donated and raised through the annual Appeal, we set out our ‘grant budget’ for the year and hold ‘grant rounds’ where projects can apply to us for funding. We receive hundreds of applications for grants every year. Applications are carefully assessed to ensure that the funding will make a real difference to children and young people facing a range of disadvantages, such as disabled or ill, or experiencing distress, neglect or trauma. Organisations applying for funding must clearly demonstrate how their project funding will change the lives of those aged 18 and under for the better.
Like most responsible charities, we do not hand over the multi-year grants in one lump sum at the beginning of their funding period. Instead, the money is released to the organisation over time after receipts and proof are presented so that we can monitor the work being done and feel confident that money donated by the public is being spent wisely, with the greatest possible impact on the lives of young people.
We have a rigorous decision making process in place to ensure that the grants that we award will have a positive impact on the lives of children and young people facing disadvantage. Our teams carefully assess these applications to ensure that grants will make a real difference to the lives of children and young people facing disadvantage across Cyprus.
Grant applications are reviewed by the Government Commissioner of Internal Audit. The Commissioner makes sure that policies are followed and advises the board which projects are eligible to receive grants.
Please look at the Grants section of our website for more information.
Visit the Grants section of our website for more information about applying for an Individual Grant or an Association Grant from Radiomarathon, including how to access our online application forms.
We accept applications all year round.
Plan your Grand carefully. Look at the requirements before you complete your application. Not having sufficient evidence is a common reason why applications are not successful.
Read our Criteria to help you make sure you only apply for things that we can fund.
The most common reason applications are unsuccessful is because not all the required extra information is included. If you have any questions about what you need to submit please contact us.
As a charity, we are committed to ensuring that money generously donated by the public is spent wisely and goes on to make a real difference to disadvantaged children and young people around Cyprus. Like any other organisation, Radiomarathon Children in Need incurs necessary costs in the course of its work; running the charity professionally and efficiently, managing grants responsibly and raising funds all costs money.
For every euro donated to Radiomarathon Children in Need, a minimum of 90c goes directly towards changing the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across Cyprus. This includes the grants we make to projects working with children and young people around Cyprus, the costs of making sure that these grants are properly monitored and evaluated, and the costs of undertaking research and initiatives designed to ensure we have a positive impact on young lives.
No. All of the money in our grant reserves is intended for grantmaking activities and will help to support children and young people. We are committed to ensuring that donations are spent responsibly, and a rigorous evaluation and decision-making process is in place to ensure that this money goes on to have the greatest possible impact on young lives.
Any money not allocated to projects by the time our annual accounts are finalised at the end of June will be paid out in subsequent grant rounds. We have recently invested in our grantmaking capacity to ensure that we can allocate funding more quickly, and we have significantly reduced the time it takes to award funding.
The Ministry of the Interior is the regulatory authority for the fundraising licence. The license number is N.P. 37/2024 and more information can be found on the website of the Regulatory Authority.
There are lots of ways to send in your donations, but please don’t send cash by post. Instead, please use one of these other options.
