The Radiomarathon is a historic institution that started in 1990 in Cyprus, with the aim of supporting children with special needs. Through collaborations with large organizations and timeless actions, it has become an important manifestation of love and solidarity. Over the years, he has raised significant amounts for charity and continues to inspire Cypriot society, projecting the message of the power of love.

2022-2023

The New Age with the Power of Love and Care

By joining forces, we become more effective. The Radiomarathon is the authentic expression of the value of solidarity, and it moves with the Power of Love of all of us. We believe in the Power of Together. And finally, we can leave a positive mark on our society. The highlight of the year 2023, the great event of love in Nicosia, with the leading Greek artist, Sakis Rouvas.

2019 - 2021

New Age Power of Love and Care

With the slogan, New era, Power of Love, the insurance group CNP CYPRUS with its insurance companies CNP CYPRIALIFE and CNP ASFALISTIKI and RIK took over this sacred institution of the Radiomarathon. Its historical path now enters a new era, keeping its mission unchanged.

A timeless mission that unites the whole family. To a common goal. To make the lives of children in need better. With all the Power of our Love and Care.

2018

Love for Children Seeks New Ways of Support

For the first time in its history, the charity events to strengthen the fund of the Radiomarathon Foundation are not taking place. The Cooperative closes and the institution remains unsupported. However, love for children in need always finds solutions and actions were set in motion to find organizers and supporters.

2010 – 2017

Only Love can...

The Radiomarathon was also held in this time period, despite the unfavorable economic conditions that prevailed in our country. In these difficult years, they supported the events beyond Laiki Bank, followed by Bank of Cyprus and Synergatismos together with SUPER FM and RIK.

2001-2009

The Greatest Love Festival of Cypriot Hellenism

The mobilization of thousands of people of all ages is unprecedented. The message of this institution touches every corner of free Cyprus. It awakens everyone’s conscience and reminds us of a great social debt.

The proceeds of the Radio Marathon support hundreds of children with special needs, as well as a number of foundations and voluntary organizations that provide care, employment, education and entertainment. In 2009 you write a separate page in the institution. The receipts exceeded the amount of 2.4 million euros. A special moment was the presence of the Prime Minister of Greece, Mr. George Papandreou, at the central pavilion in Nicosia.

1996-2000

The Atlanta Greek Olympians and Carl Lewis Honor the Events

In 1996, the Greek Olympian team of Atlanta are in Cyprus. Pyrros Dimas, Akakios Kakiashvili, Nikolas Kaklamanakis, Ioannis Melissanidis, Niki Bakoyannis, Leonidas Sampanis, Leonidas Kokas, Giorgos Tzelilis, Viktoras Mitrou, Panagiotis Giannakis and the coach of the weightlifting team Christos Iakovou.

In 1999, the Radiomarathon celebrates its 10th anniversary. Carl Louis, ‘the son of the wind’ comes to Cyprus to contribute to the success of the Radio Marathon. He visits schools all over Cyprus and talks to students. Personalities such as Roula Koromilas, Alcistis Protopsalti and Elena Paparizou contributed to the success of this year’s event.

1991-1995

Contributions break the £1 million barrier

With the closure of Radio Super, the official organizers of the institution are Laiki Bank and RIK. In 1992, for the first time, local radio stations throughout Cyprus also contributed, broadcasting the Radio Marathon messages to every Cypriot home.

The Radiomarathon is organized on a pan-Cypriot scale and the events are multiplying. Famous artists and athletes contribute in their own way. For the first time, the diaspora also contributes to the institution through the Greek radio station of London LGR.

For the first time, in 1995 breaks the barrier of one million pounds.

1990

The beginning had just begun...

With the cooperation of Radio Super and Laiki Bank, the Radiomarathon is born. The first announcers are Christos Michaelidis and Robert Kamassa. First events, the bazaar in the auditorium of the School for the Blind and the journey of inspiration of Radio Super editors Andreas Paraschos and Aristides Viketos, who decided to walk to Limassol in the company of two paraplegics, Nikola and Toula, and a group of unknown volunteers. The result is 332,374 Cypriot pounds and a 36-hour Radio Marathon of Love.
